Event Details
The Indian Ocean Open Water Swim features a range of distances to accommodate various skill levels and endurance capabilities. The course is designed as a clockwise 1.25 km circuit with a deep-water start, providing a unique and exhilarating experience for all participants.
Race Categories
- 10 km Swim: 8 laps
- 5 km Swim: 4 laps
- 2.5 km Swim: 2 laps
- 1.25 km Swim: 1 lap
- 500 m Swim: A shorter circuit for beginners
Participants will enjoy the scenic beauty of the Indian Ocean while testing their limits and enhancing their open-water swimming skills. The event layout ensures safety and support, with designated paddlers starting along the backstraight and remaining there until the shorter distances (1.25 km & 2.5 km) are off the course. Paddlers will then fully accompany their swimmers around the course.
Course Map and Feeding Zone
A detailed course map will be provided to all participants, ensuring clarity on the swimming routes and laps. The beach feeding zone is located north of the start line. Swimmers must stay in the water, as Floreat Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) cannot provide feeders. This setup ensures a seamless and uninterrupted swimming experience, with necessary sustenance readily available.
